DIIV

0 Comments 16 May 2012

Reverb-laden, guitar driven, indie rock may have hit the saturation point in the music scene but occasionally there’s a band that makes you think, “maybe there’s room for one more”.  DIIV is that band.  Zachary Cole Smith came up with the project as he was touring with Beach Fossils last year.  Originally recorded as a bedroom project, Smith put a band behind the idea and was soon signed to Captured Tracks.  , formerly just Dive, does a great job of not letting the ambient reverb drag the entire track into murky oblivion like so many of their peers.  Instead Smith and friends let the guitar hooks stand proud floating atop the swirl of bass and vocals.  Check out the single “How Long Have You Known” from their upcoming debut album, Oshin, and past single “Sometimes”.  Oshin is due out June 26th.
