Friendly Fires – “Blue Cassette”

This year’s summer anthem has been chosen.  Go forth and be excellent to each other.

The group that brought you dance-rock gems like “Jump in the Pool” and “Paris” recently put out their second full length, Pala.  The track “Blue Cassette” has quickly become a favorite on the album with its tropical flare and infectious rhythm.  The trio put the song out for free download a while back and it has been on repeat in my head ever since.  Give a listen below and download it for the price of an email.  Head HERE to purchase Pala.

Digitalism – “2 Hearts”

No Comments 20 April 2011

It has been quite a while since we’ve heard from German dance-rock duo , but now we have a new track and the prospect of a new album.  The first taste of the LP, “2 Hearts”, likens ’s biggest hit off 07′s Idealism, “Pogo”.  An epic dance song involving more structure and build/release than their typical glitchiness.  The well titled, , is due out June 20th.  ”2 Hearts” is free for download on SoundCloud right HERE.

The internet can be a scary and wonderful place.  A few days ago it proved to be the latter as I stumbled across .  The West London four piece are dead-set on becoming the next talked about indie rock act.  With a sound along the lines of and the group features shimmering guitars, danceable beats, and catchy vocals.  Their most recent single “Headstrong” has all the makings of a huge hit with its extremely infectious chorus and energy.  ’s own Maury mixed the single and accompanied it with a great remix.  Listen to “Headstrong” and another StB favorite “Glamour” below.  Head HERE to buy the single and HERE to listen to more songs from The Collectable Few.

You’ve heard ’s “Real Love” single in both it’s original and remixed forms.  Now it’s time to sit back and watch the video!  Directors Aaron Brown and Ben Chappell, known as Focus Creeps (NSFW) put together a fun and somewhat twisted video together combining beaches, hipsters, and wild dogs.  Record label Matador Records posted the video on their site this morning along with a quote from vocalist/bassist Ekhi Lopetegi: “Real love is being in a state of conflict against the outside world”.  Enjoy!

Two Door Cinema Club

No Comments 01 September 2010

may be the catchiest upstart on the internet right now.  With their addictive guitar riffs, Ben Gibbard-esque vocals, and programmed beats swaying between afrobeat and dance party infused, this Northern Irish threesome have pricked the ears of thousands since the release of their EP only a year ago.  They caught our attention with the single “I Can Talk” at the end of last year just prior to their debut full length release .  Two Door–getting their name from the mispronunciation of the local Tudor Cinema by one of the members–has since opened for the likes of Phoenix and Foals.  Do these youngsters have what it takes to scale metaphorical wall from internet phenom to indie club mainstay?  You tell us.  Listen to the single “Something Good Can Work” and check them out during their first headlining US tour below:
