CFCF – “Jump Out Of The Train”

No Comments 01 August 2013

announced his first album since 2009 with the ambient head-bobber “Jump Out Of The Train”.  I was immediately captivated by the repetitive twinkling synths–that remind me of another electronic song about a train–and rewarded by an unattributed guest appearance by (has to be him) on backing vocals.  This is great news after the stellar EP Music for Objects earlier this year.  The album is called Outside and will be out on Paper Bag Records October 22nd.

Gilbere Forte – “Nolita (ft. Active Child)”

No Comments 22 May 2013

This track is great.  I was unfamiliar with before, but he is now clear on the radar.  For those–like myself–initially taken aback by ’s involvement in a hip-hop track, I’ll let Mr. Grossi explain for himself:

“anyone who knows me well, knows that i was born and raised on hip hop. this may come as a surprise considering the aesthetic I’ve created w/ AC, but it has had a massive impact on me as a songwriter and producer. its a genre i will always be passionate about. so although collab’s like this might feel like a curveball, its just me being me, bringing what I do to music I admire. hope you enjoy the track, more to come. and obviously plenty more AC. Pat xo” -via Facebook

“Nolita” is from Forte’s newest mixtape Pray available for free download at his website HERE.

Active Child – “Evening Ceremony”

No Comments 26 March 2013

is back and maybe better than ever.  Pat Grossi’s most recent track “Evening Ceremony” is a brooding and confident featuring some of the best vocals from the project yet.  Little information comes with the track but we’re all hoping for another full length.  Enjoy!

Superhumanoids – “Too Young For Love”

No Comments 21 August 2012

Acts like make me excited about my recent move to the west coast.  The LA based foursome make indie pop that’s as soulful as it is hazy.  Just take their single “Too Young For Love”.  Much of it sounds like it could be a track from former tourmate, haze-master , but the verses have a classic R&B flare to them, so much you can picture the choreographed emphatic sways and snaps.  Those elements paired with the driving chorus make for an excellent song.  The single comes from their debut full length Exhibitionists which isn’t due out until next year.  The group is also doing a small west coast tour, check it out after the jump.

Active Child – “Hanging On”

No Comments 05 July 2011

Our second taste of the upcoming album comes via The Adult Swim Singles Program, which we reported on the other week.  Pat Grossi begins “Hanging On” with enchanting Nobuo Uematsu-esque arpeggios soon followed by complimenting harp creating a spacey canvas fit for his signature vocal style to paint an emotional picture of hanging on to lost love.  This is the second outstanding track from You Are All I See which is set for release August 23rd making it one of the most anticipated records of the year for me.  Listen below and head HERE to download.

Active Child – “Playing House”

1 Comment 14 June 2011

Pat Grossi, AKA , will be releasing his debut full length You Are All I See August 23rd.  The record will contain 10 tracks including “Playing House” which features fellow one-man-band artist Tom Krell, who records under one of my favorite monikers .  Forewarning: this R&B slow jam is a serious grinder.
