Too Much Retro Weekend Mix

No Comments 08 November 2012

Yes. The weekend smell is drifting up to you. In 48 short hours, you’ll be wearing your favorite tank top, tossing back beers and forgetting about that meeting where Carla made that bitchy face at you when you mentioned the coffee filter needing to be replaced every time someone uses it. Everyone knows it’s you, Carla. Don’t be like that.

TANK TOPS. BEERS. THE EIGHTIES. It’s all shooting around your mind like a ninja turtle on a Mattel hover-board and eating spaghetti-os out of your Chip and Dale thermos. And this is your inspired soundtrack. It’s not from the eighties, but it sure sounds like it.

remixes a catchy pop song to make it acceptable and even more dance-able, smashes up a hip-hop anthem and some Casio inspired craziness to make some “Gooooo”, and gets remixed to sound like something delicious Prince and collaborated on (IF ONLY).

Metro Station – “Shake It (Futurecop! Remix)”
The Hood Internet – “Goooo In Paris (Jay-Z & Kanye West vs. TNGHT)”
Aeroplane – “In Her Eyes (ft. Jamie Principle) (Beni Remix)”

BONUS ROUND: I don’t know what’s happening but I think I’m in love with this. Every inspirational eighties song rolled into one megamix the perfect length for a workout.

Week(end) Mix

No Comments 27 February 2012

Sure it’s only Monday night, but if your week is anything like mine you need something to carry you through, so here’s a mix to get you to the end of you week.  Start off with a new track from youngster producer called “Icarus”.  Next up a remix of the most annoying song (my opinion) by the most unannoying (fact)–the outcome is good.  Thirdly an excellent mix by the enigmatic London producers .  Followed up by StB favorite ’s take on Luke Abbott’s “Brazil”.  And lastly ’s haunting remix of ’s “Suffocation”.  Enjoy your week!

Madeon – “Icarus”
Foster The People – “Don’t Stop (Color On The Walls (Futurecop! ‘Schizophrenia’ Remix)”
Josh Beech and the Johns – “Lights (Monarchy “Aurora Borealis” Remix)”
Luke Abbott – “Brazil (Gold Panda Remix)”
Crystal Castles – “Suffocation (HEALTH Remix)”

Robots With Rayguns

I know I am late on this one…about a year, but nonetheless the music styling of has made life a bit more pleasurable as of late.  I came across RWR recently when used “Sugarbaby” in a mix.  My ears immediately perked up to the nostalgic synths and infectious melody, I had to hear more from these robots and their rayguns.  I soon found out there is only one robot, Lucas Patrick Smith of Phoenix and that he released a full length of original material last year entitled Electro Isn’t Dead.  Similar to his 80′s electronic brethren Futurecop!, Smith’s work is similar to a time machine–of the Delorean variety–that transports you to a wonderful time when colors were all neon and TV’s were all grainy.  Check out some choice tracks below.  Head HERE for more on Robots With Rayguns.

New Artist

Ever want to break out your toy collection of Thundercats and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and play with them while watching The Neverending Story trilogy?  does.   The UK synthpop duo are obsessed with 80’s pop culture and memorialize it by creating fantasy-filled electronic music that could easily replace the original soundtrack of The Transformers movie (the original animated one).  Their music will take you back in time when worries were few and synthesizers were aplenty.  Trust me you’ll like it.  If nothing else, their MySpace page is worth checking out for a trip down memory lane. Keep an eye out for them.
