Sacha Baron Cohen to Play Freddie Mercury

0 Comments 23 September 2010

The man behind Ali G, Borat, and Bruno has closed a deal to play late Queen front man Freddie Mercury.  The headline may sound like a prank, but with two time Academy Award-nominee Peter Morgan (The , The Last King of Scotland) writing the script and Oscar winning Graham King (The Departed) producing, we’re guessing it’s not.  Cohen actually seems like a great choice.  The two men look very similar and few actors can pull off flamboyancy better than Cohen.  The currently untitled biopic even has the support of the surviving members of Queen who have licensed the rights to their songs for the movie.  Production is set for 2011.
