Missed in 2011

Guy/Girl synthpop duos may seem to have hit the saturation point in the indie music market (Chairlift, Memoryhouse, Savoir Adore, etc.), but what does it matter when they’re all so good?  Phantogram has found a way to set themselves apart with a unique mix of chillwave and hip-hop elements.  Their 2011 EP Nightlife is easily one of my favorite listens of the year so I must have been pretty busy to not mention them all year.  Give a listen to standout track “Don’t Move” and RAC remix of “When I’m Small” from earlier this year and find out for yourself how good they are.

Brooklyn synthpop duo Chairlift are prepping their sophomore release, Something, with a few new tracks.  Back in August they released “Amanaenesia” as a single on Terrible Records and now we have “Met Before”, an upbeat wishful tune full of bop bas and woa woas.  Both definitely inspire excitement for the upcoming record which is due out January 24th.
