Missed in 2012

is anything but a New Artist which is part of the reason why he’s never been talked about on StB.  There was never a great time to post when he dropped some big record or even a big single and I was a bit late to the game most of the time when it did happen.  He always seemed to release his remixes and originals somewhat discreetly via his label’s Bandcamp and then I would trip over them months later on my way towards some now-unworthy track.  In addition to being the head of a 20 DJ label with Invisibles, Zelenka is also the recording engineer for , you may hear some similar musical ground.  Below are two of my favorites of his originals, both from his delicately titled 666 EP with Secret Shadows.  Appetite not sated?  Head to his SoundCloud HERE for a ton more, with a lot of free downloads no less.

Crystal Castles – “Wrath of God”

More word on the new album III.  Alice Glass reports the album will sound completely different than predecessors I and II.  The duo traded in any keyboards and pedals used on the last two records ensuring a “new pallet of sounds to work with.”  They also recorded everything analog and limited themselves to first takes claiming they are the “rawest expression of an idea.”  III is due out digitally November 5th and physically November 6th.  Be sure to go back and listen to “Plague” and catch them on tour.

Week(end) Mix

No Comments 27 February 2012

Sure it’s only Monday night, but if your week is anything like mine you need something to carry you through, so here’s a mix to get you to the end of you week.  Start off with a new track from youngster producer called “Icarus”.  Next up a remix of the most annoying song (my opinion) by the most unannoying (fact)–the outcome is good.  Thirdly an excellent mix by the enigmatic London producers .  Followed up by StB favorite ’s take on Luke Abbott’s “Brazil”.  And lastly ’s haunting remix of ’s “Suffocation”.  Enjoy your week!

Madeon – “Icarus”
Foster The People – “Don’t Stop (Color On The Walls (Futurecop! ‘Schizophrenia’ Remix)”
Josh Beech and the Johns – “Lights (Monarchy “Aurora Borealis” Remix)”
Luke Abbott – “Brazil (Gold Panda Remix)”
Crystal Castles – “Suffocation (HEALTH Remix)”

Fav New Track

I’ve got a great idea.  Let’s have record an alternate version to a track off their amazing 2010 self-titled album and get a legendary vocalist to guest on it.  How about their Platinum Blonde cover “Not in Love” and the guest singer will be the Cure’s .  Go ahead and pinch yourself.  The track will the A-side of the new single due out 12/6 via Fiction but is available to stream below.  The B-sides being acoustic versions of “Celestica” and “Suffication”.
