Oh did you need a weekend anthem?  Empire of the Sun have emerged from the icey mountains of whatever mythical place they record with “Alive”.  There are few more words to say than this thing is an anthem.  It will easily become the banner song of summer 2013, unless another track from Ice On The Dune overtakes it.  The epically titled  album is due out June 18th.

Reference the picture above, a wolf shooting neon pink lasers from its eyes.  I don’t think much more is required to prepare you for the electopop dance fury you will hear below.  The LA duo Story of the Running Wolf (SOTRW) craft pristine retro-futuristic fun in the vein of Empire of the Sun or Duran Duran.  You’ll also get a taste of peers Walk the Moon and Niki & the Dove.  Need more reason to like them?  They’re live show has been described as a ”John Hughes party on Neptune”.  Yeah, I’m gonna catch me one of them.

Here at slapthebass we’re a sucker for a good mashup.  Every Monday we’ll bring you one of our fav’s for your listening pleasure.

Mover Shaker is back with this “Girl-Talk-esque” ADD mashup.  Sampling from an assortment of artists including Tone Loc, The Knocks, Soulja Boy, Rusted Root, and Empire of the Sun, Mover Shaker sets off a serious nostalgia party.  Also, we’re not sure what May 26th is, but we’re looking forward to it.
