Here at slapthebass we’re a sucker for a good mashup.  Every Monday we’ll bring you one of our fav’s for your listening pleasure.

Sometimes Monday’s mashup just falls into my lap.  Today The Hood Internet posted a blend of Ellie Goulding’s vocals from “Lights” over Kanye’s “All of the Lights” performed by the Portland Cello Project.  One of those mashups that’s hard to believe it wasn’t the original intent.  Enjoy!

I caught Fat Superman’s set not too long ago when he opened for The Hood Internet expecting little more than a filler DJ set before the main event.  I was pleased to be way off.  The Jacksonville, FL based DJ’s collage-style mashups made for a great dance party on their own.  This week we’re featuring his track “Getting Juicy” which, not unlike the rest of his work, samples from a variety of sources.  Check it out below.

Fav Tracks

One of our favorite mashup duos The Hood Internet are back, but this time with a non-mashup.  The Chicago boys are supposedly in the works of releasing a record of original material and in the meantime decided to assemble a stellar little group for this cover of The xx’s “VCR”.  Featuring Elizabeth Harper (Class Actress) on the chorus and Freddie Gibbs and Telli (Ninjasonik) on the verses this is definitely worth a few listens.  [via Pitchfork]

Last summer, BBU (Bin Laden Blowing Up) teamed up with Das Racist on a track produced by Mashup Monday favs The Hood Internet.  The outcome is entitled “Please, No Pictures” and can be streamed below and downloaded HERE just for becoming fan on Facebook.
