Xaphoon Jones, producer half of Chiddy Bang, released his second mixtape earlier this month.  ”The Jackson Pit” is an excellent blend of Jackson 5′s “I Want You Back” and Passion Pit’s “Sleepyhead”.  Download the whole 16-track mixtape HERE.

With less than twenty tracks posted on his SoundCloud account, Mover Shaker is quickly becoming a StB favorite for mashups.  This week’s mix features Soulja Boy’s “Pretty Boy Swag” over a personal favorite Memory Tapes’s “Bicycle”.  This will not be the last time Mover Shaker shows up here.  Enjoy

This week our mashup comes from SoundCloud user PRFFTT (pronounced “Profit” just like step 3 in any great plan). According to his bio he is a Boston College student who does a little mixing on the side.  This featured track is simple yet affective replacing John Legend’s vocals on MSTRKRFT’s “Heartbreaker” with Adele’s from her song “Rolling in the Deep” creating something that works so well it’s hard to call it a mashup at all.  Check out more from PRFFTT HERE.

Mashup Mondays

Here at slapthebass we’re a sucker for a good mashup.  Every Monday we’ll bring you one of our fav’s for your listening pleasure.

Party Ben is back again and this time he’s got some big backup.  Apparently his mix of Rihanna’s stuttering “Umberella” and General Public’s poppy “Tenderness” pricked the ears of Mr. Happy Gilmore and is used in Sandler’s recently released movie Just Go With It.  Sony contacted Ben and even got him the official stems for him to re-mash the song (featured here is the original version).  Read the whole story HERE.  Enjoy!

Also, as you see above Party Ben always accompanies his tunes with an amusing visual, I was a bit disheartened he didn’t do something with General Public’s LP COVER instead.  Just an observation Ben.

This week’s mashup comes from a Sunset In The Rearview commissioned mixtap entitled Welcome Back, Weezy.  Mochi Beats takes Thin White Duke’s Remix of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” and laces it with Lil Wayne and Drake’s “Money to Blow”.  Props to SITR for setting up the mixtape.   Enjoy!
