SBTRKT (pronounced “Subtract”) is the mysterious masked London producer seen above. Below is his excellent debut record available for stream including the stellar single “Wildfire” featuring Little Dragon. The self-titled album is set for release July 28th via Young Turks.
On June 6th two of the most influential bands on modern music will release a compilation album which will include a previously unheard New Order song “Hellbent”. The collection entitled Total: From Joy Division to New Order will chronicle the group’s transition from their start as Joy Division, through the death of legendary frontman Ian Curtis, to what they became. It will contain 18 tracks, 5 from Joy Division and 13 from New Order, see tracklist below.
It is intriguing news to any die-hard fan to know the defunct trio can still play nice enough to release the compilation, but to throw a new track on top? That’s a great end to the week. Little is known about “Hellbent” other that it was recorded in 2005 and it’s a damn good New Order song. Give it a spin below.
Just last month Bon Iver announced the details of the group’s second full-length and now we have the first single from the eponymous release. On “Calgary” we find Vernon and company opting for subtle arrangements over the rootsy folk circa For Emma creating a fantastic track. The album is due out on June 21st via Jagjaguwar in the US and June 21st on 4AD in the UK and yes, we’re excited. Listen below and download HERE with an email.

As we previously REPORTED, Junior Boys are set to release their new album It’s All True June 14th (UK release June 20th). The first single is called “Banana Ripple” and, as their label Domino says, “in its 9+ minutes of dance hit glory, Junior Boys bask in a multitude of cultural, geographic, and gastronomic touchstones: namely Orson Welles, Howard Hughes, China, in particular Shanghai, Japan (the band, not the country) Banana Ripple ice cream, Carl Craig and analogue synths.” The duo is also setting out on a bit of a North American tour, see after the jump.

Interpol will be releasing a Limited Edition 12″ Vinyl-only Remix EP in celebration of Record Store Day coming this Saturday, April 16th. Unfortunately at this time the EP will only be released across the pond in Europe with a North American release late this summer. The record will feature remixes of “Try It On” by Salem, Ikonika, and Banjo or Freakout. Have a listen to Salem’s haunting version below and enter an email address to get the download.

Everybody’s favorite band of harmonizing troubadours, Fleet Foxes, is set to release their second full length. In late January they debuted the title track which can be heard above. “Helplessness Blues” is a beautifully typical Fleet Foxes song exhibiting their tight vocal arrangements and cathedral-like sound. A few days ago the Foxes posted on their SITE the video for the epic “Grown Ocean”. The feel-good video features grainy footage of the band recording, touring, and playing with Santa Claus amongst other everyday activities. Check out the video below. The album, Helplessness Blues, is due out on May 3rd on Sub Pop, head HERE to pre-order.
Written and recorded over a span of four years Human Hearts is poised to be Maritime’s strongest record to date. After their 2007 release Heresy and the Hotel Choir, the four Milwaukeeans had to put the band on the back burner to focus on “real life”. With all the members’ attention on their families and careers the album came to fruition much slower than the previous three giving the band more time to fine tune.
On the first released single “Paraphernalia”, we find that Maritime hasn’t lost a step when it comes to writing accessible indie pop rock. The song is filled with the band’s signature mix of beautifully tangled guitars, emotive vocals, and driving drums that they’ve become known for. “Paraphernalia” immediately transports you to a time and place when everything was a bit easier and there’s a bounty of red Kool-Aid to be had (okay maybe just me).

It’s All True is the title of the newly announced album by electronic duo Junior Boys and “ep” is our first taste. In typical Junior Boys fashion “ep” features woozy synths, emotive lyrics, and a lot of restraint. The song feels forever on the verge of breaking out just to quickly collapse in on itself giving it a roller-coaster feel. The cover art (above) is a picture of the UK Pavilion in Shanghai. TV On The Radio are set to release their new album Nine Types of Light on April 12th via Interscope. Above is the cover art and below you can find the two released songs “Will Do” and “Caffeinated Consciousness”. With only two songs to be heard the new album is setup to exhibit TVotR’s full bandwidth with the former being a slower groove and the latter displaying the Brooklynite’s rockier, funk-driven side.
